continued...
In 1996, her growing reputation as a self-styled designer earned her a commission to design costumes for the "Danseurs D'Aujourd'Hui" ballet Gala in France. This success of this venture led to a second commission the following year to create costumes for the Dutch National Ballet's annual choreographic workshop. In 2001, Yumiko, still a principal dancer, continued her double duty for the company by collaborating with choreographic sensation David Dawson. Together, they costumed the production of "A Million Kisses to my Skin", which premiered to great acclaim with the Dutch National Ballet. Although she continues to shine as a principal dancer, her recognition for this work has garnered her the position of exclusive designer to the up and coming Dawson.
