In America, it is not only American Ballet Theatre and the New York City Ballet. There are many regional companies here. Both Dance Europe and Dance Magazine publish yearly guides to companies throughout the world. Check their websites, www.danceeurope.net and www.dancemagazine.com to get information.

Make sure you have an up-to-date resume, a good head shot and also dance photographs showing a good line. If you are putting together a DVD it must be of professional quality. Introduce yourself and show a variety of movements at the barre, in the center, jumping and turning.
Girls naturally should be on pointe. Please, please keep it short because often directors look at 20 to 30 DVDs a day. Unfortunately it is what they call fast forward.
I always feel that if you see a dancer on the stage in a company that resembles you, you stand a chance!
